PORTVIEW is cozy and comfortable and charming. The house was renovated in 2007, and is ready to be enjoyed! The lawn slopes right to the waters' edge, and is spattered with wild flowers, wild raspberries, and a path that takes you to the fish house, which is literally built right over the water. Portview is at the edge of Port Clyde village. It is a short walk to the Monhegan Boat, the Ocean House, the lighthouse, the beach at Drift In, the Dip Net, the General Store, Stonefish, the playground, and the ice cream store! The house has three bedrooms and two full baths (tub and shower in each). The living room, kitchen, 2nd floor open deck, and one bedroom all overlook the water. The new large windows and glass doors on the south and west sides fill the rooms with natural light, and they also allow for wonderful cross ventilation. The upstairs roof deck, and the upstairs sitting room, just off of the deck, both make wonderful places to read, nap, sun bathe, or watch the moon and the stars over the harbor. The house is approximately 1375 square feet, with very comfortable furnishings, and 100% cotton linens, and a forced hot air furnace. A real treat is the wonderful little building, which literally hangs over the edge of the cove, that I call the "fish house." Traditionally a fish house is used as a workshop for lobster fisherman. It is at the end of the lawn, right on the water. It has simple comfortable furnishings. This is a special private place, with windows to the sea, for a nap or reading or watching the sun set. There is a TV/VCR/DVD, a washer and a dryer, a grill and outdoor furniture. There will be cable if it is available at this location! This fully refurbished house is located in Port Clyde village on the St. George peninsula, just beyond Tenants Harbor and close to Rockland and Thomaston, Maine.
